Building Services in Angmering
Roofing, renovations and repairs across Angmering — the old village, the newer estates, and everything between.
Your Local Builder Serving Angmering
Angmering is unusual on our patch for how sharply it splits between old and new. There is a genuine historic village core, and there are substantial modern estates built out around it over recent decades. The two need completely different things from a builder.
We work across both from our base in Lancing. Call Harry on 07598 864363 for a free, no-obligation quote.

Roofing, Renovations & Repairs in Angmering
We cover roofing, guttering, kitchen and bathroom renovations, plastering, tiling, flooring, plumbing, electrical work, painting, fencing, decking, block paving and general repairs.
On the newer estates a lot of what we are asked for is finishing off and putting right what the original developer did to a price — turfing over builder's rubble, replacing fencing that went in too light, and laying proper patios and driveways.
What We Offer in Angmering
Building and handyman work for both Angmering's period village property and its modern estates.
What Angmering Properties Tend to Need
The village core has older, solid-wall construction with traditional roof coverings, and some of it sits within a conservation area where external changes are constrained. Repairs here want doing in appropriate materials — the right mortar mix, matched tiles, timber repaired rather than swapped for uPVC.
The modern estates have the opposite profile. The construction is sound, but developer specification is normally the minimum that meets the standard: thin fence panels on short posts, patios laid on inadequate bases, topsoil spread over compacted subsoil and rubble, and drives that settle within a few years. None of it is dangerous; all of it starts needing attention around the five-to-ten year mark.
The village is also a mile or so inland, which means noticeably less salt exposure than the coastal villages either side — external finishes here last longer than they do in East Preston or Ferring.
Putting Right Developer Specification
If you are on one of the newer Angmering estates and the garden has never quite worked, the cause is usually underneath rather than on top. Turf laid straight onto compacted subsoil will not root properly; a patio on a thin base will lift and rock; a fence on short timber posts will lean. Digging out and rebuilding the base costs more than relaying what is there, and it is the difference between fixing it once and fixing it every few years.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work on both the old village and the new estates?
Yes, and they need quite different approaches. Village property has solid walls and traditional coverings that want repairing in kind; the newer estates mostly need developer specification upgrading.
My new-build patio has started rocking — can it be fixed?
Yes, but properly means digging out and rebuilding the base rather than resetting the slabs. Developer patios are often laid on a thin base, and relaying on the same base means it will move again.
Why won't my lawn establish on a newer estate?
Usually because turf was laid over compacted subsoil and builder's rubble rather than proper topsoil. Until that is dug out and replaced the grass has nothing to root into.
Do you work on conservation-area property in Angmering?
Yes, for general repairs and maintenance. Where work needs consent because of the conservation area or a listing, we will tell you before starting rather than after.
Is Angmering less affected by salt air than the coastal villages?
Yes, noticeably. Being about a mile inland means external paint, render and metalwork last longer here than in East Preston or Ferring.
Do you charge extra to travel to Angmering?
No. Angmering is within our normal coverage area and there is no travel premium.
